Workshop

Each one of my silk scarves are individually drawn and painted using the “batik” technique, an old textile dyeing method, originally from Indonesia. This technique requires hot, melted beeswax, special silk colors and a multi-stage process. Creating the design, transferring it onto the silk, applying the hot wax with the “tjanting” and, finally, painting the silk are some of the steps. In the end, after an elaborate process of fixing the colors in the fabric, the colors come out vibrant, durable and water-resistant. Both the concept and the creating process sustain the symbolic meaning of the patterns, ennobling the precious silk.
